Bidushi Debpal is a classical dancer, teacher, and academy owner.  She feels that youth today have many means to upskill themselves and be ready for life.

Bidushi Debpal is a trained classical dancer and owner of Nikkon Classical Dance Academy, Pune.

Bidushi was born in Kolkata. She started learning dance at the age of three. She did her schooling in a Bengali medium school. After that, she did her masters and B.Ed. from Rabindra Bharati University and Calcutta University. She has also done a Senior Dance Diploma in Bharatanatyam and Kathak.

She has been teaching dance for the past fifteen years. She is currently working as a classical dance teacher at Dr. Vishwanath Karad’s World Peace School in Pune.

Bidushi has performed at many places and received many accolades. She received Nritya Visharad and Nritya Ratna in 2004.

Bidushi shares that after her marriage she moved to Pune and started her academy there in 2019. However, when the COVID pandemic hit, she had to temporarily close it down and shift to online mode.

Talking about her inspirations, Bidushi says that her mother has been a great support to her. Bidushi also draws inspiration from Guruma Thankamani Kutti who is a renowned Bharatanatyam dancer. Her other Gurus like Sourangshu Chatterjee, Poulomi Chowdhary, and others have also motivated her to get into this field.

Bidushi feels that education helps in getting good opportunities in life and experience helps us in moving ahead hence both are important.

Bidushi feels that students today are very versatile and have ample facilities to get multiskilled.

If given a Time Machine, Bidushi would like to go back and pursue her studies in an English medium school. Also, she took a small gap in her dance profession which she would like to change.
